Alternative Exam Arrangements
If, because of your disability or medical condition, you are likely to be hindered in your examination performance or in meeting other normal assessment requirements, you may need 'Special Consideration of Assessment' and or 'Alternative Examination' Arrangements. If this is the case, it is important that you take action as soon as possible so that the necessary arrangements can be made in order to meet the examination or assessment schedule. If you foresee any problems you should contact UniAccess: UWA's Disability Office on 64883809 or 64887864 so that alternative examination arrangements or special assessment can be discussed. The basic procedure for applying for alternative examination arrangements is as follows: - Ensure that you have indicated on your enrolment/re-enrolment form that you have a disability or chronic medical condition.
- Arrange an interview with UniAccess: UWA's Disability Office as soon as you can in your first semester of University, to discuss appropriate alternative exam arrangements by calling Student Services Reception on 64882423.
- Submit appropriate and current relevant medical documents, or other evidence of your condition to the Disability Officer at your appointment. If you do not have documentation we can provide you with a Treating Medical Practitioners Report Form for your medical practitioner to complete.
- If you are issued with alternative exam recommendations you will need to make an appointment to have these approved by your Faculty Sub Dean or Academic Student Advisor, take your 'Alternative Exam Recommendations' printout to your appointment.
- Check the exam timetable when it is released on Student Connect, this will list start times and venues for exams. additional time which may have been allocated under alternative exam arrangements will not be listed on this website, however the exam supervisor will be aware of your additional time.
- if you have alternative exam arrangements your exams will be located in an alternative to the main exam venue. If this is not the case on the exam timetable website, please contact the Examinations Officer (Ph: 6488 2468) or the Disability Officer (Ph: 6488 3809; 64887864) to sort them out.
- If your situation changes and your arrangements are no longer suitable, please update them with the UniAccess: UWA's Disability Office.
- The University Policy is that applications for alternative exam arrangements must be submitted to the exams office no less than three weeks before the onset of the exam period.
Please note that 'Special Consideration of Assessment ' is diferent to 'Alternative Exam Arrangements'. If you are not sure sure about what you need, it is best to contact your Sub-Dean and the Disability Officer. The important thing is to get in touch early.
